Influencer marketing

What is Product seeding?

Product seeding is a brand strategy of sending free products to a large volume of creators or potential customers to generate organic social buzz, reviews, and word-of-mouth at scale.

Unlike a structured influencer campaign, seeding targets many people simultaneously, accepting that only a fraction will post. The goal is to flood the conversation with authentic user reactions rather than control a single polished piece of sponsored content.

Seeding is particularly effective for new product launches in beauty, food, and lifestyle categories where visual unboxing content performs well. Brands should track which creators post organically and use that data to identify high-potential paid partners for follow-up campaigns.

The cost of a seeding campaign is primarily product plus shipping. There are no guaranteed posts, so ROI is harder to measure. Brands should set realistic expectations and track earned media value and organic impressions as success metrics.
