What is Whitelisting (creator whitelisting)?

Whitelisting is when a creator grants a brand permission to run paid ads from the creator’s own social media handle, so the ad appears to come from the creator rather than the brand.

Also called creator licensing or handle access, whitelisting lets brands amplify a creator’s post as an ad with full targeting and optimisation while keeping the authentic creator voice.

It typically outperforms standard brand ads because audiences trust content that comes from a real creator account.

Whitelisting is granted through the platform's business tools rather than by handing over a password, and it should always be time-boxed and scoped to named campaigns. Creators charge separately for it because the brand gains ad reach on their handle, which is a different product from a post. Brands should expect to pay a usage fee on top of the content fee, typically renewed per month or per campaign flight.
