Best Free Instagram DM Automation Tools, Compared
Ten Instagram DM automation tools with free plans, compared on what the free tier actually gives you, whether a card is required, and what the first paid tier costs. Figures verified October 2026. Elev8or makes one of these tools, and the table names where the others win.
How to read the table
- Free plan: the limit that stops you, usually monthly DMs or total contacts.
- Card required: whether you must enter payment details to use the free tier.
- Comment to DM: replies to a comment with a private direct message.
- Story reply: triggers on a reply to your story rather than a comment.
The verdict, one line each
- Best free plan with no contact cap: Elev8or AutoDM
- Best free forever alternative and cheapest paid tier in India: ReplyKaro
- Best for multi-channel across WhatsApp and Messenger: ManyChat
- Best for ecommerce and AI chatbots: Chatfuel
- Best free DM allowance if you prefer a monthly quota: ReplyRush at 1,500 DMs a month
- Best mid-priced single-purpose tool: LinkDM
- Cheapest paid entry point: ReplyKaro at $3 a month, then InstantDM at $9.99 and ReplyRush at $10
What Instagram requires before auto DMs work
- Account type: your Instagram must be a Business or Creator account, not personal.
- Official API: the tool has to run on the Instagram messaging API. Tools that log in as you and click buttons get accounts restricted.
- Interaction first: Instagram only lets you DM someone who interacted with you first, through a comment, a story reply, or a message. Cold DMs to strangers are not allowed.
- One connected page: your Instagram needs to be linked to a Facebook Page so the messaging permission can be granted.
