Something I’m realizing lately is that self awareness and actually changing your habits are 2 completely different things Like yes I can clearly acknowledge I’m burnt out. I can clearly point out that I tied my value to productivity and it became a toxic cycle. I can admit I’ve been disconnected from myself for years now even tho I tried making myself believe otherwise One day at a time tho. I’ve actually been missing home a little bit lately too and thinking about how I wanna bring some of these habits I’ve been exercising on vacation when I get back Less screen time, work blocks without constantly checking my phone, reading, crossword puzzles, being in the sun, walking, talking to myself kinder, etc. Imma just do whatever atp because I want to even if contradicts societal “standards” or my upbringing “standards” or the influencer “standards” some ppl are expecting Like oh brotherrrrr idgaf anymore, I want my life to actually FEEL like mine again!!! 🔅🥲 #maameefuakoomson #sliceoflifeblog

I won 😭❤️‍🔥 Legit been mulling over my thoughts and words but still can’t figure out what I want to say… which is funny because I am truly a yapper at heart. Sooo so beyond grateful for my community. I will never not take the time to acknowledge that my current life wouldn’t be as blessed as it is without y’all. NOTHING would be here without y’all supporting me! I first started posting in 2020 but I didn’t get consistent until 2022, right around the time I decided I wasn’t going to move away from my hometown. I took a leap of faith and started sharing what I loved: food, creativity, and connection. I needed something positive to pour into, something to help me shift how I saw my city, my path, and myself. That’s what #BRTok became. Whether you’re settling down in Baton Rouge or just staying for a season, let’s love it for what it is and uplift what we can. I’m not a politician. I’m not a major investor. But I am a Baton Rouge native who loves to eat and sharing that passion was something within my wheelhouse, skills, and comfort. I’m just a civilian but I felt like I could at least try to be a voice of reason in the small space I had. If that meant showing people the good in our food scene, so be it. Returning to my regularly scheduled programming after a month away 😭🤪 One thing I know for sure is I need both. I need rest AND routine. I need vacations AND a life I’m excited to come home to ❤️ Ngl I was nervous I’d get back and immediately feel overwhelmed again with everything I have to catch up with but at the same time I’ve been excited to get back to my workouts, my walks, my routine, and my little habits :) Soo anyway update - I’m on day 4 of my 60 day challenge. This is round one so I have an end goal to look towards to that’s not as far out as my birthday (*cough* September *cough*) I think doing an 80/20 split with my diet will be the best option so I have wiggle room for upcoming influencer events and personal get togethersss. To say I’m refreshed & (finally) obtained clarity on some situations is an understatement!!!! My friend asked me what I learned from the trip and I wrote a few things in my journal that I am now sharing to yall unprovoked (ur welcome hehe) 🔅General overview of what I’m yapping about: 1.) The beauty and benefit of a slow paced lifestyle is invaluable. 2.) I’m not as scared of the water as I thought. And I actually can swim lol I just have low endurance lol 3.) I like being outdoors actually & I realized that I am a busy bee but NOT a worker bee. There’s a difference but I was confusing the two!!! (and yes I still have a bug phobia) BONUS - 4.) Yikesss this is long overdue but I have some words to share 😅🥹 The first photo was me attending Fork Cancer in 2024 during my first year on the Food & Beverage Board. Fast forward to 2026 and here I am standing on stage as a Tastemaker!!! :) When I look at these photos side by side, I don’t even know what to focus on first. Maybe the confidence or maybe the memories with the people I’ve met. Or maybe the fact that so much can change in just two years 😭 Because of y’all, we exceeded my fundraising goal and raised over $8K for the American Cancer Society 👏🏿 ANNNDDD as a Tastemaker Class, we raised over $600,000 collectively. To be included alongside so many incredible business owners, leaders, and community advocates was an honor I don’t take lightly 🥺 Y’all are so cool!!! More than anything, I’m grateful. Thank you to every single person who donated, sponsored, attended an event, bought a ticket, shared a post, or supported my fundraising efforts in any way. When I vacation, the hotel is 100% part of the trip for me!!! I am a ‘fully enjoy the hotel’ type of girl 😅🤗 My stay at @riseuptownhotel came with complimentary access to @lylophx, pool loungers and cabanas (first come, first serve), nightly food & beverage credits, popsicle vouchers, record player rentals, parking, & Wi-Fi! That alone sold me butttt wait there’s more 🤪 What really made this stay special was how easy it was to enjoy the surrounding community too. There’s a coffee shop right on property called @cartelroastingco, that’s right next to the pool.
