Billion Dollar Boy Buys Creator Authority: B2B Creator Marketing Just Got Serious

Billion Dollar Boy Group has acquired Creator Authority, a LinkedIn-first B2B creator agency, and is building a dedicated B2B practice around it. It is the clearest sign yet that creator marketing budgets are moving beyond consumer brands. B2B buyers now take recommendations from creators on LinkedIn, and agencies are buying the expertise to sell that reach.

The deal

  • Buyer. Billion Dollar Boy (BDB) Group, the creator marketing agency group led by founder and CEO Ed East.
  • Target. Creator Authority, a three-year-old B2B creator and influencer agency in Santa Monica, focused on LinkedIn and an official LinkedIn marketing partner.
  • Clients. Amazon, Adobe, AT&T, IBM, Dropbox, Gamma, HubSpot, Lovable, Mastercard, and Notion.
  • Terms. The deal has closed. The price and Creator Authority's revenue were not disclosed.
  • People. Co-founder and CEO Brendan Gahan becomes senior vice president of B2B, and co-founder Cassie Jackson becomes group account director for B2B.
  • Scale. BDB says the acquisition puts the group on track to top $100 million in global revenue next year.

Why B2B creator marketing is growing

The numbers in the announcement explain the bet. LinkedIn findings say 59% of B2B buyers pay attention to creator content on LinkedIn, more than on other social platforms. BDB's own survey of 1,000 US and UK marketing decision-makers found that one in five has invested in B2B creator marketing this year, making it the second most popular creator economy investment of the year.

There is also a search reason. BDB argues that creators help brands show up in AI chatbot answers, which buyers increasingly use for product recommendations. A software category that a respected practitioner writes about on LinkedIn is a category an AI assistant is more likely to cite. For B2B brands, creator content now feeds both the buyer's feed and the buyer's AI research.

Who benefits

  • Practitioner creators. Operators, founders, and specialists with modest LinkedIn followings in a niche are now a recognised paid channel, not just thought leaders.
  • B2B and SaaS brands. A long sales cycle needs trusted voices more than reach. Niche creators supply that at a fraction of event or analyst costs.
  • Agencies without a B2B offer. Less so. Holding companies are buying the capability, which raises the bar for smaller shops pitching B2B work.

What brands and creators should do

  • B2B brands: start with creators your buyers already follow, not the biggest accounts. A 15,000-follower operator in your category usually beats a 500,000-follower generalist.
  • Measure pipeline, not likes. Track demo requests and sourced opportunities from creator links, and give each creator a unique link or code.
  • Creators in professional niches: package a LinkedIn offer with a clear deliverable, for example one post, one carousel, and a comment-thread follow-up, and price it like a sponsorship.
  • Run B2B creators with the same discipline as consumer campaigns: one brief, agreed deliverables, approvals, and payment on delivery. Elev8or Collabs handles the brief-to-payment workflow for any platform.

What to watch next

Whether other agency groups follow with their own B2B acquisitions, and whether LinkedIn adds formal sponsorship tools similar to YouTube's and Meta's. If LinkedIn productises creator deals, B2B creator marketing will move from agency service to self-serve channel quickly.
